The Institute

The Rapid Eye Institute, a Licensed Vocational Career School, licensed by the Oregon Department of Education, was founded in 1983 by Ranae Johnson. It acts as training center, resource, nexus for unique products, alma mater, and emotional home to thousands of Rapid Eye Technicians world-wide.

Nestled in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, the Rapid Eye Institute sits on 6 acres just 10 minutes east of Salem, Oregon. The Rapid Eye Institute offers clear fresh air, peaceful surroundings, and an atmosphere conducive to healing and learning.

For over 20 years, the Rapid Eye Institute has been the home of Rapid Eye Technology (RET), as well as host to hundreds of seminars, presentations, trainings, and certifications.

Because of its quick and easy access to Interstate 5, many students, trainers, and workshop/certification participants find it convenient to simply fly into Portland (PDX) and either drive or shuttle into Salem, where they can easily make the 10 minute drive to the Institute.

Basic Driving Directions:

If traveling I-5 Southbound from Portland:

1. Take exit 253 off I-5 (Interstate 5) to Hwy 22. Be in the left lane at the light.
2. Proceed east 3.5 miles to the Joseph Street exit. Turn left onto Joseph Street.
3. Proceed to 71st and turn left again.
4. Proceed one block – turn right onto Jordan Street.
5. Proceed to 75th Street – turn left onto 75th Street.
6. Proceed 1/2 mile until the road turns to the left.
7. Look for the Rapid Eye Institute on your right.
8. Look for signs to direct you where to park.
9. The door to the Rapid Eye Institute is on the North side of the building – look for the sign.

If traveling I-5 Northbound from Eugene:
